Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then found many other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state early analysis show the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; investigators are presently not informed of any injuries in association with the incident," they commented.
City officials announced they were working "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the residents for information.
A high-ranking representative commented the attack made him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a assailant targeting residents of migrant background in February 2020.
